Every day emails arrive from clients, or potential clients asking me a wide range of questions, my goal is to share these questions, and the answers to better support a greater number of people.
Today’s question: What do you personally recommend diet - wise for me, that I can do while still nursing. I have PMS, liver-chi stagnation, my bowels are not eliminating well, and, I woke up with a hot, throbbing headache today. I had these issues before I had babies, then they went away, but are back again as I am beginning my menses. I think I need to stop the coffee and alcohol. What about an herbal remedy, what are your thoughts Chakra?
Well there are many factors at play here, and we can’t really dig in without a first appointment. Off the cuff I will suggest working on your diet as your first line of defense because its something you can control, and from these changes, you will get results. Before seeking an herbal remedy, since you are still nursing, I might suggest a less invasive homeopathic remedy to begin with, and soon I will offer a link to the site to some of my personal favorite homeopathic solutions.
Toxicity is an issue here, given the little I know about both your history, and your current basic food plan, understand there is no magic bullet, so finding a quick fix supplement or remedy wont fix it.
Here’s my down and dirty suggestions:
Begin by drink warm lemon water upon rising, to begin alkalizing your system every single day. Put an end to your morning coffee habit ASAP. Wean yourself off, going from 1 cup to 1/2, to ¼ of a cup or as you can. For some, cold turkey works, depending if your the type...Choose green tea as a transition caffeine, until you can go without. The best green tea on the market is Dr. Lee’s, it’s hard to find so I offer here on fullchakra.com. Limit alcohol to 2 nights a week, ONLY, no exceptions.
Express your energy more, with frustration, allow yourself to cry. Try a screaming, singing shower; allow sound to move through your body since you are singer, before you get to the point of yelling at your kids. I sense this is an important shift for you, to move the feelings of exhaustion and frustration, which naturally go with the territory of having 2 kids under 3 years old!
Do your best to stop using stimulants or depressants to get through the day. Nap and rest whenever there’s a chance, so when a baby naps, follow suit.
Eat big fresh organic green salad every day; your diet does not include enough greens. Eat fresh fruit, rather than refined sugar, and eat whole grains, rather than white flour products. This alone would be a big shift for you and your whole family, but if you make the commitment, over the next month, you guys can make this change.
Removing white flour is a huge step, and one of the most important improvements you can make. It really means changing everything you are used to buying to an improved option, including bread, crackers, English and regular morning muffins, tortillas, pasta, and any frozen options you keep on hand, from rice through pizza, pick whole grain options, which are better for you and your family.
Improved choices include spelt, brown rice and whole wheat pasta, 4.9 bread and tortillas. The idea is to remove the white flour products from your house.
If you begin eating steamed veggies, salads, good clean quality protein, drink plenty of water, remove white flour and stop eating whatever is easy, and making an effort to eat healthfully, its very likely that your bowels will begin to move much better, eliminating one big problem. (No pun intended!) Start with this and let me know how you feel by the end of the week.
