Basic Flax Crackers, high-powered blender version

Flax crackers are the perfect addition to a healthy food plan, and a great substitute for flour based crackers. Once you get the hang of making crackers it is easy to graduate to bread, tortilla’s, muffins, bagels, and raw scone making. Flax crackers compliment or fill out a meal. Once you get the feel of making flax crackers, double the batch as you will likely munch through them quite fast! This basic recipe is a good one to start with.

Ingredients:
2 C flax seeds
1 lg clove garlic
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
Handful of parsley
1-2 carrots
1-2 tomatoes, or vegetable of choice
Pure water to blend

Blend mixture on high using your spatula and water to turn mixture. When blended pour or spoon onto teflex sheets. Place in the dryer and dehydrate at 118 for about 10 hours or until crackers are dry enough to flip. Half way through drying process, turn the crackers over, removing the teflex sheets. Allow to dry the remaining time on the mesh sheets only. Dry until crisp, aprox. 24 hours or until completely dry. This insures your crackers will stay crispy when stored in an airtight container. I have found zip-lock bags the best choice for this climate. Try a variety of flavors to see what you like. Once you get the basic technique, you can evolve your recipes into endless delights.
